Record Your Song With Jenee Fleenor at Nashville Trax!

Jenee Fleenor overdubbing a fiddle track at Nashville Trax

The just released movie, Twister, starring Miranda Lambert features a song Miranda co-wrote with our fiddle player, Jennee. It’s titled “I Ain’t In Kansas Anymore”. Jenee also played on it!

Interested in having Jenee play on your song? Text us at 615-319-8616, once we hear your rough and discuss particulars, we’ll make it happen.

We are happy to produce just one song. However, if you have three songs for us to produce, that meets our minimum for a dedicated session. You are welcome to come in and hang out a bit. You can actually meet Jenee and other musicians playing on your project.

Nashville Trax Produced Jingle Airing to Millions Daily!

Tune in to the nationally syndicated Ellen K Show on KOST 103.5, Los Angeles, CA to hear The Swansons’ jingle opener for Ellen’s Thought of the Day segment. It was produced here at Nashville Trax and will play every morning moving forward until it wears out.

“I finished getting Jenee’s tracks on the project about 2 p.m. on Sept. 25th,” explains producer, Bill Watson.

“I wanted The Swansons songwriter, Joe, to hear how well it turned out. They had already supplied me with their vocal tracks so I did a quick mix, applied a little mastering, and Dropboxed it,” Watson continues, “As luck would have it Joe and Angie were still in a meeting at the radio station when they downloaded. The Program Director flipped over it and scheduled it daily starting the next morning, on the 26th.”

“No way would I have thought the tracks we were cutting Tuesday would be heard on radio by millions of people within less than 24 hours, it’s crazy. God is good.”

Joe and Angie: The Swansons

The Swansons have achieved considerable notoriety in the Los Angeles area. They have pop/rock albums out, winning awards and have built a large fan base. But after starting their latest recording project they felt the urge to “go country”.  They wanted a country album and wanted to do it in the Nashville area. After careful research, they decided Bill Watson of Nashville Trax was the best choice to produce them.

The album was started about six months ago and 18 songs have been cut.

This is their first country live performance, announcing their turn toward country music and releasing their new music to the public. Some of the musicians who will back them on the show:

How about that drummer? That’s William Ellis of Montgommery Gentry. If you need a fantastic right-in-the-pocket rhythm section on YOUR tune, we’ll get him. Or you can request one of the other two fantastic drummers we’ve settled in on after trying dozens of so-called session quality drummers over the years here in Nashville.

The fiddle (and pulsing fiddle & viola on the bridge)? That’s Jenee Fleenor who plays for Blake Shelton as well as for Martina McBride when her schedule permits. Yes, we can put her incredible skills to work on YOUR song too!

Bill Watson Produces Three Vocal Tracks at Red Alert Recording Studio in Gallatin, Tn, Shawn Conley Engineering

This past week, Nashville Trax producer, Bill Watson, carrying a portable hard drive loaded with tracks for three songs he arranged and tracked at Nashville Trax, uploaded them into a Pro Tools rig at Red Alert Studios in Gallatin Tn, part of a collaborative effort between Watson and engineer Shawn Conley.

Once the tracks were prepped Watson and Conley teamed up to record, engineer and produce singer Dan Thompson as he sang vocals for his new album which is projected to receive airplay in Canada.

Although Dan was well rehearsed and had the songs he’d penned “down pat” each song took a little over an hour to record with multiple takes and phrase-by-phrase instruction on timing and pitch.

Singer Songwriter Dan Thompson of Canada sings his vocal on music tracks produced at Nashville Trax Recording Studios.

“Help Me Jesus One More Time” Mix Finished!

Here’s a clip of songwriter David Greer’s first demo with us, finished today.

Based on David’s guitar/vocal rough, we produced two versions, one with  Ray, a baritone, singing lead and harmony and a Bob Dylan style harmonica played by Mike Douchette. as the main lead instrument that I thought turned out great, well enough that David’s father thought it was the best song recording he’d ever heard.

But David wanted to hear it with a higher pitched vocal and fiddle instead of harp so this posted version features our singer, Jason. We’ll pick it up coming into the pre-chorus section:

Blake Sheton’s fiddle player, Jenee Fleenor plays both fiddle and mandolin. Other musicians include William Ellis of Montgommery Gentry on drums, Nashville Trax producer Bill Watson on bass guitar, Ron Fairchild of The Oaks on piano and Tom Wellenbacher on guitar who’s played with everyone from B.J. Thomas to Mindy McCreedy, .

The Man In The Distance Mix Finished!

Play It Again Demos Music Producer, Bill Watson

Jenee finally returned from Los Angeles where she’s been “working” on The Voice (getting pampered/living it up on the production company’s dime, LOL) long enough to get some real work done: utilizing her amazing talents to get a few fiddle, mandolin and vocal tracks locked down. One was the final track needed to mix this awesome little ballad, Man In The Distance, written by songwriter Kevin Wood:

Here’s a clip of the client “Before” Version starting in verse two:

Our “after” Version, same spot:

Kevin did a great job laying out his vision. A lot of changes were made though, there was some superfluous stuff. And the song clocked in at about 5 minutes, way too long in a world where “radio friendly” is about 2 to 3 minutes.

“The “howling wolves” vocal sounds Kevin had were interesting but were deleted in the charting phase. Several bars of music that served no purpose were axed. Also, Kevin put a tag on every chorus which wasn’t appropriate (a “tag” is when you repeat the last line of a section, usually verbatim. in this case with different words but it still made the whole chorus feel too lengthy) I kept only the final tag.

A little tightening, and there you have it, a song I think has a great chance of garnering a publishing contract!

Which version would you take to the pitching table?

After hearing the mix, Kevin said, “Wow — Nice!! You guys did a great job, and you are very skilled at what you do, brother!”

Tracks For Your Project Cut In A Nashville Recording Studio? It CAN happen!

Why NOT have Blake Shelton's fiddle player and session quality musician Jennee Fleenor on YOUR project?

Why NOT have Blake Shelton’s fiddle player, session quality musician, Jennee Fleenor on YOUR project?

Nashville Trax Recording Studio announces its Tracks Online service allowing self-producers to add session quality instrument tracks recorded on quality equipment in a Nashville recording studio to their projects:

2-15-2014

For Immediate Release

Many musicians throughout the world produce projects on home equipment as well as at local recording studios. The problem? There are only a few handfuls of session quality musicians in the world and the majority live and work in Nashville, TN. It’s known worldwide as Music City for a reason.

Often, a producer outside Nashville needs a specific instrument track and soon discovers that many great live players simply don’t have the impeccable timing and skills required to play at session quality.

Even if they can access Nashville players, how do they know which ones are really able to deliver the tracks they need before investing? Are they really session quality players? Will they record the part at their home using inferior home grade equipment? Digital is digital but commercial quality preamps and condenser microphones are not part of most home setups.

Enter Nashville Trax Recording Studio Tracks Online Service which solves the problem with low cost individual tracks by proven musicians delivered over the Internet.

Basic rhythm tracks like drums, bass guitar, piano, keyboards and guitar can be ordered or even mixed and matched to track together, all recorded on quality gear with an experienced producer/tracking engineer overseeing the process.

Other instruments like saxophone, mandolin, fiddle, steel guitar, even vocals and more are also on the menu.

A fringe benefit of the service is that most of the players available have credits you can use to help promote your project via a press release, on your website, etc.

Bill Watson, owner of Nashville Trax Recording Studio reports some early success, “I think we’ve tapped into a real need with Tracks Online. Within the last 24 hours we’ve received confirmed orders for a banjo track, two steel guitar tracks, and a harmonica track. We hope to have continued success and increased volume because obviously, at the price point we’ve set, there’s a very low profit margin per track.”

For more information as well as a sample of the work available visit Fiddle Tracks Online.
