Back in the day only the big boys received royalty checks. Most independent performers were left to dream of the day they’d see their first check.

Things have changed!

Most venues throughout the U.S. pay licensing fees to BMI, ASCAP and SESAC. They have to, otherwise they can’t legally host live entertainment that performs covers of any of the three Performing Rights Organization’s songs.

Yes, even that small local bar that has acoustic duos every weekend most likely pays licensing fees.

Once you join one of the PROs performaning your original songs in a licensed venue makes you eligible for royalties.
